If you have Gmail installed on your phone, you can skip to step '1.2 On Your school computer'.
Download the 'Google' app from the app store on your phone
Log into the app using your work email address
Note: You may already be logged in with your personal Google account. If this is the case, you will just need to add your work account too.Â
Go to https://myaccount.google.com/
Select 'Security' on the menu on the left
Select '2-step verification' under the 'Signing in to Google' section
Follow the on-screen instructions - note that it will pick up the fact that you've signed into your google account on your phone, if it doesn't it will default offer you to use text messages as your form of authentication instead of the app that I showed you in your office
We advise that you select the option to use backup codes too. You will be given 10 one-time use codes that can be used to get into your account in the event that you do not have your phone on you. These can be printed off and stored somewhere safe. For instructions on how to renew these codes, see step 2 below.
The next time you sign in, it should then pop up on your phone asking you if you are trying to sign in. On your computer this is where you can leave the box checked for it to not ask again on that particular device.
Go to https://myaccount.google.com/
Select 'Security' on the menu on the left
Select '2-step verification' under the 'Signing in to Google' section
If you have previously set up backup codes, you should see the 'Backup Codes' option in the 'Available second steps' section, click the right-facing arrow on this option
From here, you can see how many of your remaining codes are still usable. If there are none remaining, click the refresh icon as shown below
