Most of you will be familiar with using folders to organise your inbox, but Gmail uses ‘labels’ instead. You can also add multiple labels to one email, so you’re not restricted on where to put things if they span over a few areas.

In Outlook, you were able to add a red flag to any email in your inbox to mark it as important. In Gmail you are still able to do this but instead of a flag, it is a star . On the left hand side of the email subject, you should see a star icon. (Image 5)
Clicking this will flag the email in the inbox as important and will stay at the top of your inbox until you unclick the star.
This will also copy the email into a folder called ‘Starred’ - which can be found in the list on the left. (Image 6)

Deleting emails is fairly similar in Gmail as it is in outlook. To delete an email, check the box on the left of the email you want to delete and click the bin icon . This will move the email to your archive. Please bear in mind that any emails you archive will be held in the ‘Trash’ folder for 30 days before being permanently deleted. (Image 7)

Sometimes you may need to retrieve a deleted email. You can do this by scrolling down the folders on the left hand side until you get to ‘More’. Click ‘More’ and it should bring up some more folders - one of them being Trash. Click Trash. (Image 8)
Find the email you want to recover. Click the box on the left hand side of the email , then the icon to ‘Move’ the email. Choose what folder you want to put the email into and it will be moved from Trash to the folder chosen.
