Once in a while, an instructional designer gets to develop a course that has the potential to facilitate change for good, in individuals and organizations. I am convinced that Coaching To Success was just such an occurrence. The course was designed to be the foundational platform for a cultural shift towards a leadership mentoring effort. The participants came away from the two day classroom experience with both knowledge and practice that they could take back to their roles as key leadership mentors. The 2 day course consisted of a series of modules designed around the attributes of effective leaders and how to coach individuals towards the adoption of those attributes. Modules include:
Coaching to Success
Working with Personalities and Traits
Values Based Leadership
Understanding the Change Process
Working Together Not Apart
Meeting Facilitation Train the Trainer
Building Relationships for Lasting Success
Coaching for Change
Coaching Resources
The students receive a 300 page workbook to work from during the sessions. They work as pairs to discuss the concepts presented, and to practice the skills learned. The students are introduced to the concept of utilizing a learning journal to record thoughts and to take notes while they learn.
