Grade Level: Middle School (Grades 6-8)
Time Required: 1-2 class periods (45-60 minutes each)
Objective:
Students will use TinkerCad, KODU, SketchUp, Scratch, or Kerbal Space Program to design and create a unique project. They will document their work by posting a screenshot and writing a three-sentence reflection on their Google Site.
1. Introduction (10 minutes)
Briefly explain today’s objective:
Choose one of the platforms (TinkerCad, KODU, SketchUp, Scratch, or Kerbal).
Create something awesome using your creativity and skills.
Post a screenshot of your project and a three-sentence reflection on your Google Site.
Remind students that the assignment is available in the Innovation Lab and that they should work quietly and independently.
2. Work Time (35-45 minutes)
Students log in and access the Innovation Lab for assignment details.
They work independently on their creative projects using the chosen software.
Encourage students to experiment, problem-solve, and improve their designs.
3. Documentation & Reflection (10 minutes)
Students take a screenshot of their project.
They post it on their Google Site along with a three-sentence reflection answering:
What did you create?
What challenges did you face?
What would you improve if you had more time?
4. Wrap-Up & Sharing (Optional, if time allows)
Select a few students to briefly share their creations.
Discuss key takeaways from today’s work.
