"I always enjoy the skeletal anatomy of animals. I wanted to capture my interests in the lamp without making it incredibly scary. A lot of skulls are considered scary and I think I was able to make it nice rather than creepy. I think people should be able to see the beauty in death."

" I loved working on her and how she turned out! The acrylic I used was perfect and I love all of the color choices I made. I had to get some help making her skin tone, but it even helped me learn some things about mixing and making colors."

"This lamp was inspired by the song, “Mirrorball,” by Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift is one of my favorite music artists and I wanted to make something that reflects her music. Throughout the weeks of this project there were lots of trial and error, but overall I think the final piece came together really well. "

" The outcome of this project I fell in love with, this is one of my best pieces yet. Starting this project I was just trying different building ideas and wasn't sure if this would work. The job got done and I even added some extra pieces (rocks) to pull it all together. To improve on my next project I will be making the bottom bowl bigger & wider from the start."

Artist Statement: "In creating this bowl, I decided I wanted to create a flower with layered petals. I think my project turned out very pretty! The glazing turned out very even and opaque. I think I picked my colors well. I glazed the leaves green and then for the petals, I did a gradient of pink with a yellow center."

"My project came out exactly how I wanted it to look. At first, I struggled keeping the arms attached, but I was able to use coils to effectively attach them. I created this piece to represent my uncle who passed away from brain and lung cancer. I incorporated two colors in the ribbon, grey to represent brain cancer and white to represent lung cancer. Overall, I wanted to show how the people who go through cancer are strong, so I made muscles to show strength. "

The green represents his favorite color. "Creating this piece was a long, tedious, and rewarding process. From the original design, I decided to make some changes to allow for more intricate and carefully executed details. Olive branches draping around the key symbolize the resilience and resistance of the Palestinian people whose land is getting forcefully stolen from them daily. The lower portion of my project showcases the Palestinian Keffiyeh, a symbol of peace, freedom, prosperity, and resistance for the Palestinian people. The olive branches were originally supposed to be carved out, but I thought making them in 3D would emphasize and help show the symbolism more clearly. In the end, this piece turned out better than I expected and I am very happy with the final product."

" I absolutely adore how my vase came out with all its bright colors and designs. I don't think I could have done anything different to make the quality of my work better considering all of the small spaces I had to fill and how many coats I had to put on. While creating this piece I put many symbols with meaning coordinating with the European culture. The two most important symbols on my vase are my eight stars in a circle representing the European flag, and the circle with the cross which represents the European Unification Movement that had impacted many European lives. The only change I had made to my vase from the beginning is the circle with the cross though it was supposed to be white, but later on, I decided green would look more fitting for this piece. "

"I am pretty satisfied with the final results of my project. I really like how the colors turned out. They stood out and the black outlines around each symbol really cleaned up the project by separating everything. One thing that I could have done better is the actual glazing. Some parts of my vase are fully filled-in and have many layers, but there are some areas that are lighter and not fully filled in. Overall, I think that my project was a success because I do like the way that it turned out. I was able to finish the project and it made it all the way through without breaking. I was satisfied with the shape and size of my vase and the symbols and colors on my vase. "

So once all that was done I was over this whole project and got lazy with glazing. I could have spent more time glazing, but in the end I am happy with how it came out."

"I really enjoyed making this project! My goal for this project was to have a well-made, smooth sturdy vase, which I think I executed very well. I pretty much 'kept the final vase identical to my sketches so this was really helpful when making it. I also loved how I used wheat to frame my focal point, I think that it really shows my points well! Over all, I am very happy with my final project!"

"My project is based on the issues of trawling nets, which are nets that fishing boats drag through the ocean to catch large amounts of fish. As a result of the large size of these nets, they often end up catching non-target fish, trash, and other species, which is what I wanted to raise awareness to through this project."

" During the design stage of my building process I had the goal of expressing my Italian roots. I wanted to make a vase that would show the meanings of different things in Italy. The stars are included to show the center point of the Italian Republic's national emblem. The Italian bull horn is my focal point and I used olive branches around it. The bull horn represents good luck and the olive branches harmony and fraternity. "

"After I completed the rest of the glazing out of class the project was complete. This project really reflected my skills in building techniques and styles I liked to use. This project inspired me to push past my limits and try new things such as textures, styles, and colors. But in the end, all of these different things I tried to do ended up looking very good. I am very happy with the look of my vase and how it represents the culture. This project was very fun to get to see my skills and determination to make this vase the best I could make it to be."

"I created this vase using the common coiling method and pinching to create the smaller details. I struggled with making sure everything was smooth but I think I did a nice job overall. The flower in the middle is a Hawaiian flower that symbolizes positivity and joy. Also, the flower, when worn in a woman's hair, can indicate her marital status! "

"I was based on the Nazca culture because I am Peruvian, so I am more familiar with this. In Peru we have a lot of culture, but I was more interested in Nazca because of the figures and because it would be more fun to recreate. So, I wanted to make a simple vase, but I changed my mind and made a big opening on the top, it's cute, so I like to remember the things I was raised with."

"When creating this piece, I struggled a lot when working with the clay; thankfully I persevered and was able to create this! Even though I am satisfied with the results, there are a few imperfections. Firstly, the shape isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be. Secondly, even though the glaze is opaque, it has a few lumps in it (possibly from lost paintbrush bristles). Despite there being imperfections, I personally think it adds to the vase's individuality! "
