"This is my coil vase project, I made it by using many pieces of clay coils. My favorite part was glazing. I like using all of the different colors and I think it is really cool how the glaze changes after it goes into the kiln. The inside was difficult to glaze because of the narrow opening into it, but I managed with a really long paintbrush to paint it well. "

"This piece was inspired by my love for the new movie, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage”. I absolutely love this movie and I loved taking the time to make this piece. The idea here was to have half of Venom’s face, and then to reveal a wooden-like texture, similar to how he reveals half of Eddie’s face in the movie. "Artist Statement:

"The movie, "Nacho Libre," is loosely based on the real life of the Friar Storm named Fray Tormenta. He was a Mexican Catholic priest whom had a 23 year career as a masked luchador to support the orphanage he directed. Jack Black depicted him in the movie adaptation. "Artwork Inspiration:

"This piece is inspired by my favorite character from the anime, "Naruto. " The character Pain aims to bring peace to them, even though he seems to have some evil intentions. He plays a huge role in the plot of the show. This is my biggest piece, using different patterns I was able to make all aspects of the piece. Adding details such as the hair, jewelry, and the facial features. All these details bring the piece closer to the real thing that is shown in the anime."Artist Statement:

"I really enjoyed this project. It felt simple but with the complexity of making the tree it made it feel very fulfilling when I was finished. I wanted to do another nature project due to the fact that the plate looked like it would hold a bonzai tree like a pot. "In this project I really wanted to print and display the iconic Jumpman. From shoes, to the court, to the Michigan Wolverines, Jordan finds himself flying in many settings. I slipped and scored the logo onto the plate carefully and definitively to create the perfect spacing and shape. This plate is both simplistic and captures the iconic Jordan logo." Artist Statement:

"This coil vase started out pretty typical. I knew that I wanted to add something unique so I added the, “tail.” The tail reminded me of a scorpion so I went with a, “Scorpio,” theme (I am a Scorpio). I painted the vase in different variations of blues and purples to represent the water sign. The name, “Ortum Scorpii,” is Latin for, “The Rise of the Scorpion,” which I felt fit this vase nicely."

"This is the piece I am most proud of currently. The majority of this piece was inspired by the nation of a video game by the name of, “Genshin Impact.” In case you don’t know the nation, Inazuma, is based on Japan. This is the Kanji symbolizing Eternity. These are the morals of the fictional god of Inazuma."

"This project was really challenging to make. However, the outcome was very good. I had to paint in between the little crevices with black and go over it multiple times. But that wasn't even the hardest part. The hard part was building it, especially the head. Since the head is heavy you have to make sure that the neck is thick enough and strong enough to hold it. It took me a few tries to get a perfect but I ended up getting it just right."

"I didn't have any problems or any challenging points in making this project. It all went very smooth, and was fast as well. My favorite part of the piece is the color of glaze I used, Moss Green. It makes it look almost ancient and contrasts with the colors of the Yin Yang symbol to make it pop. "Artist Statement:

"During the quarantine of Spring 2020, Colten took home this project and completed building it. He brought it at the end of the year to be fired. Colton returned this month to glaze his caricature sculpture. Colten shows us the ability to rise above the challenges around us to see our goals through to fruition. He demonstrates perseverance, dedication, and excellence."
