All full-time faculty are required to serve on at least one of the following six committees: Professional Development/ Research & Service (promotes and creates professional development and service opportunities and conducts research on departmental practices or areas of interest), Adjunct Hiring & Onboarding (interviews adjunct candidates in CLS, mentoring and reviews adjunct eligibility), Textbook & Technology (reviews textbook selection, examines technology linked to pedagogy), Assessment (conducts holistic grading sessions, assess results, and recommends appropriate curricular adjustments), Faculty Evaluation (reviews adjunct faculty’s student evaluations and portfolios and forwards review to department chair and dean for their review and signatures.), Curriculum (recommends and helps implement curricular reform in response to assessment results, Department and College mandates, and cultural and technological changes). Full-time faculty do not receive professional development for committee work. Committee chairs are appointed by department chair or elected from within the committees. Adjuncts may serve on any committee, except for the Faculty Evaluation committee, if they choose. Adjuncts receive pay for committee work.
