Blackboard is customizable online software that is available to faculty and students.  Instructors can utilize the learning management system (LMS) to supplement their coursework, foster discussion and house other academic content & resources.

** It is required that all instructors use Blackboard to post class grades. **

There are a number of help resources available through ACC to design the Blackboard shell, maintain an online gradebook and navigate the technology.

Quality Matters (QM):

Faculty who wish to teach online courses must complete training to become QM certified and follow the QM design process for Blackboard.

Use of SafeAssign in Blackboard

Plagiarism Tool

SafeAssign Info: https://help.blackboard.com/SafeAssign/Instructor/In_Your_Course

When creating assignments in Blackboard, instructors should employ the use of SafeAssign to determine which student submissions may contain plagiarized content.

SafeAssign compares submitted assignments against a set of academic papers to identify areas of overlap between the submitted assignment and existing works from the Institutional and Global reference database. SafeAssign originality reports provide detailed information about the matches found between a student’s submitted paper and existing sources. Both instructors and students can use the report to review assignment submissions for originality and create opportunities to identify how to properly attribute sources.

Use your discretion when reviewing the percentage of plagiarized content provided by the SafeAssign originality report to determine whether further action is needed.
