Residency
For tuition purposes, ACC has four levels of residency:
In-district student: A Texas resident who has lived in Texas for the past 12 months and resides in the ACC District.
Out-of-district student: A Texas resident for the past 12 months who does not reside in the ACC District.
Out-of-state student: A U.S. citizen who has not lived in Texas for the past 12 months.
International student: A non-U.S. citizen who is not a resident alien.
Undocumented student: Texas law (Senate Bill 1528) allows undocumented students to qualify for Texas residency status if they have lived in Texas for the 36 months before completing their high school diploma or GED.
ACC Taxing District
Reference the ACC service area map at the bottom of this page and here. The following areas are considered “in district” in exchange for contributing to the district tax base:
Austin ISD
City of Austin (including portions of Eanes ISD and Pflugerville ISD)
Del Valle ISD
Elgin ISD
Hays CISD
Leander ISD
Manor ISD
Round Rock ISD
Independent School Districts pay in-district tuition.
Students who pay City of Austin taxes on property they own or who are dependents of someone who pays taxes on their City of Austin property, and can provide documentation, also pay in-district tuition.
Additional ISDs outside of Austin that also receive ACC higher education opportunities are listed here.
