For six decades, the Ateneo College Scholarship Program continues to thrive thanks to the University’s unwavering commitment and the constant support of many generous benefactors. Today, around 24% of the total college population enjoys various scholarship support.
The very best applicants to the Ateneo de Manila University are awarded the Ateneo Merit Scholarship. This year, the award will be based on their individual academic performances and leadership roles in their respective senior high schools.
The recipients of the Ateneo Freshman Merit Scholarship (AFMS) are identified as the top 50 applicants from private, public, and science senior high schools locally and abroad.
The recipients of this scholarship can select any four or five-year course of their choice. They are awarded a full tuition and fees grant and a P50,000 annual allowance. In addition, those from outside Metro Manila will receive an additional on-campus dormitory scholarship.
The Ateneo recognize in these students great promise, a vast potential to contribute and enrich the university community and the Philippines. In and through them, the Ateneo hopes to continue its tradition of excellence in academics and service to God and nation.
Of the thousands who apply to the Undergraduate Education of the Ateneo every year, a select few clearly stand out. These are students who have distinguished themselves academically as well as in co-curricular activities in their respective senior high schools.
As part of the Director's List, the awardee shall enjoy an annual Php 100,000 scholarship grant (or php 50,000 per semester) for any undergraduate program of study of his or her choice.
Fr. Thomas B Steinbugler, SJ Academic Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to the Valedictorians and Salutatorians of Science High Schools who are accepted to Ateneo, with excellent ACET results, in any degree program under the School of Science and Engineering. Upon presentation of a certification from the high school principal, a Valedictorian receives a 100% Tuition and Fees Scholarship, while a Salutatorian receives a 50% Tuition and Fees Scholarship.
Fr. Bienvenido F Nebres, SJ Science Academic Scholarship
This Academic Scholarship is awarded to Valedictorians and Salutatorians of science high schools.
This grant is awarded to the Valedictorians and Salutatorians of science high schools who are accepted to the Loyola Schools in any degree program under the School of Science and Engineering. Upon presentation of a certification from the high school principal, a Valedictorian receives a 100% Tuition and Fees Scholarship, while a Salutatorian receives a 50% Tuition and Fees Scholarship.
Jose P. Rizal Academic Scholarship
This grant is awarded to Valedictorians and Salutatorians of Public High Schools who are accepted to Ateneo with excellent ACET results. Upon presentation of a certification from the high school principal, a Valedictorian receives a 100% Tuition and Fees Scholarship, while a Salutatorian receives a 50% Tuition and Fees Scholarship.
This is awarded to student-athletes who have excelled in sports and academics. Aside from being financially challenged, applicants must have outstanding athletic ability. Athletes may contact the Ateneo coach and program head for their sport.
All applicants are encouraged to take qualifying examinations given by various government agencies, private groups, or foundations, specifically, the Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-SEI), and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). This grant is applied for and awarded to financially challenged applicants with consistent academic performance, intellectual ability, and potential for greater service in the future. It can be one or a combination of the following:
NOTE: The most common awards are the 50% and 100% tuition and fees categories. Some scholars are given combinations of the above in accordance to their need. Families are expected to shoulder the living expenses of their child in the Ateneo.
For Freshman Applicants - The Scholarship/Financial Aid Questionnaire must be filled out. This form must be secured and submitted together with the Application for Admission Form. The form is downloadable from the Ateneo website. Application for scholarship does not influence, in any way, the decision concerning acceptance into the college. Scholarship applicants, therefore, should NOT wait for the decision on their application for admission before securing or submitting the Scholarship/Financial Aid Questionnaire.
With limited slots each year, the Committee on Admission and Aid makes its decisions on each application after carefully examining the application requirements of the students. The academic record of the applicant, the family’s finances, and the school recommendations will also be examined and considered by the Committee.
For Upperclass Applicants (or Current Students) - The Scholarship/Financial Aid Questionnaire to request either a 25% TF or 50% TF grant must be filled out. The Questionnaire will be available from March to June of the current school year. Application results will be released by July of the same school year. Additionally, the grant will only take effect starting the first semester of the next school year.

The Magis Scholarship is the most extensive college scholarship package being offered by Ateneo de Manila. The scholarship covers the following:
Full tuition and fees throughout college
Monthly food and living allowance
Semestral allowances:
Books and supplies allowance
Miscellaneous expenses allowance
Transportation to and from home province
On-campus accommodation at the University Dorm (if from outside the National Capital Region)
A laptop and a cellphone
The scholarship is open to all incoming college students who have demonstrated excellence in academic and non-academic endeavors, and have the potential to become the servant-leaders our future truly needs.
The first Magis Scholars will be selected among the members of the freshman batch of School Year 2022-2023, one each from the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
What are the requirements for the Financial Aid grant?
Program of Study and Tenure of Award - Financial aid grants are awarded to students in all programs of study in the Ateneo Undergraduate Education. The grant is given for a year only but may be renewed upon evaluation of the student’s continued financial need and above-satisfactory academic performance. It covers Intersession terms and introductory courses if these are required.
Scholarship Update Form - This form is filled out every year by every Financial Aid Scholar for the renewal of their scholarship. This form is made available by the OAA sometime in March. Failure to submit an update form on time will mean cancellation of one's scholarship.
Intersession Request Form - This form is filled out when a scholar is required to take intersession courses. This form is made available by the OAA sometime in March. Failure to submit the request form on time will mean the student will shoulder his/her own intersession expenses.
