Committee Information
The Dissertation Committee
In order to continue to enact Communities of Practice, doctoral committees are constituted as follows:
The Program Coordinator, with advice from the doctoral faculty and input from you, forms groups of five to seven students, and determines the Chair of the Leader Scholar Community (LSC). LSC chairs and students are established at the middle/end of the second year.
This LSC meets as a group, and each individual meets regularly with the Chair until the completion of the program.
You will have a dissertation committee composed of your LSC Chair, a second faculty member, and one external member from outside the College. The second faculty member is selected by you and is based on expertise and fit with your dissertation topic and must be approved by your LSC Chair. The external (third) member is nominated by you and approved by your LSC Chair and Graduate College. External members are determined during the third semester.

After you have determined your second and external (third) committee member nominees with your LSC Chair, download and complete your portion of the Letter of Invitation. Forward Invitations to the second and external (third) committee member nominees.
When your nominee agrees to serve they should send you the following:
The complete and signed Invitation for Committee Invitation Letter
The nominee’s vita/resume with their current position
Once the nominee sends you the required documents, send them to your Chair for final approval. Chairs must also sign off on the Invitation Letter confirming their approval for the nominee.
After both invitation letters have been completed by all parties, you will need to submit all documents to the Second and External (Third) Committee Members Google Form. Both nominees have to be submitted at the same time for approval.
