Loop Head Harvest Festival
Concept
Concept
The Loop Head Peninsula is home to a wide variety of food producers. From the big beef and dairy farms, grain and hemp growers and smaller fruit and vegetable farmers on land to the fishermen and oyster farmers that work the coast and the sea, Loop Head produces an assortment of products, many of which are nationally and internationally recognised.
The Loop Head Harvest Festival would showcase and celebrate the farmers, fishermen and other food producers over a weekend in late September or early October.
The festival could include:
Farm walks and visits
Boat trips
Talks and presentations
Food tastings & presentations
Farmer’s Market
Cooking displays
Machinery display
Workshops
Project Justification & Objectives
The Loop Head Harvest Festival would on one hand allow farmers, fishermen and other food producers to showcase their products while on the other hand attract visitors towards the end of the main tourist season and so give a boost to the local economy before the winter months.
The Loop Head Harvest Festival might also inspire local entrepreneurs to set up new businesses and create opportunities for existing businesses to grow.
