Cross Information Point**
Concept
Concept
The Cross Information Point would be part of the Loop Head Peninsula Discovery Way and serve the purpose of a central information point for the wider Cross area.
The information point is envisaged to be located in the centre of the village near Foley’s Bar and Cross Digital Hub.
The information point could consist of a number of panels, each dedicated to one topic: One could provide information on natural heritage (habitats, flora and fauna), one on built heritage (e.g. the village, Kilballyowen Church, etc.) and another on farming heritage. Content could be sourced locally and in cooperation with the nearest national schools (Kilbaha & Carrigaholt) and Foley’s Pub.
Because of the Cross Digital Hub in the vicinity and Cross’s central location on the peninsula a virtual approach could be considered using an interactive touch screen instead of traditional panels.
**We listed the Information Points for each village separately because it seems more likely for them be taken on by different teams and/or stakeholders. It is however possible to merge them into one project which will be managed by one team with one set of stakeholders.
Project Justification & Objectives
The Cross Discovery Way Information Point would be an important building block of the Loop Head Peninsula Discovery Way and part of a network of similar information points in all of Loop Head’s villages. The information point would be a valuable source of information for visitors and encourage them to stay and explore the area for longer and so support local businesses.
Because of the direct involvement of the community, Cross Information Point would not only showcase the typical tourist spots but paint a more personal and authentic picture of the Cross area which would benefit both the community as well as visitors.
