THE CLO2 was comprised of these 3 major topics:
Study Guide # 2
a. Philippine Transportation System
b. Transportation Safety & Economics
c. Transportation Policy Analysis and Planning/Technical Tour
OVERVIEW
This guide will help you recognize current transportation issues and policies, economic, safety and environmental concerns.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this module, you should be able to:
1. Determine existing transportation issues in the community.
2. Identify possible solutions to the problem.
LEARNING ACTIVITY
PHILIPPINE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
For this topic, I want you to read the State of Public Transport System in the Philippines by Atty. Martin B. Delgra, III using this link: https://bit.ly/StateofPublicTransportSystem and identify which of the current transportation issues is evident in your local community. Justify.
TRANSPORTATION SAFETY AND ECONOMICS
For this topic, I want you to watch the video using this link: https://bit.ly/TSandE and accomplish the following: Identify the specific transportation safety personnel in your community. Explain the importance of Transportation Economics.
TRANSPORTATION POLICY ANALYSIS AND PLANNING
For this topic, I want you to watch the video using this link: https://bit.ly/TPAandP and answer the following: Choose one (1) transportation issue identified earlier. Search for a variety of ideas that might provide solution to the problem. Cite references.
I've chosen this video presentation as evidence of this course learning outcome number 2 because it had come into my mind the recognize current transportation issues and policies, economic, safety and environmental concerns and it
One concrete application of this second-course learning objective would be in terms of IDENTIFYING THE CURRENT TRANSPORTATION ISSUEs PRESENT IN THE COMMUNITY. In particular, we were tasked to formulate issues based on the interview we conducted that can be observed in the video above. At first, it was quite challenging because some of the terminologies being stated by the interviewees are quite similar, but in the end, I was able to find out which is which and be able to realize that we engineers have so much more to offer in this world and it is through identifying problems and formulate solutions upon it.
The connections between transportation and the environment are complex. Unknown elements exist, and certain recent discoveries might influence the development of new environmental regulations. Due to the kinds of transportation used and the low levels of mobility, transportation has historically been linked to very little environmental harm. For instance, from the 16th to the 19th century, the building of huge sail-powered navies contributed to a certain amount of deforestation in Western Europe and North America. Problems with manure disposal were brought about by horse dependence and urbanization in the 19th century. The growth of steam engines and industrialisation also cause pollutants (such as soot) near ports and rail yards. These problems remained minor and regional, though.
Module 2
This module is concerned with the geometric and structural design of highways and railways. Cross-sections, horizontal and vertical alignments, super-elevation, and earthworks will be discussed.
In this module, environmental effects of transportation systems, including infrastructure and vehicle operations, include noise, pollutant emissions, and climate change.
Since mobility provides significant socioeconomic benefits while also affecting environmental systems, the relationship between transportation and the environment is contradictory. Transport-related activities support the growing demands for passenger and freight mobility on the one hand, but they also have an influence on the environment that may not be favorable. Environmental factors also have an impact on how well transportation systems function and how much infrastructure is needed for things like building and upkeep (see Transportation and the Physical Environment for a review of these constraints). So, it is possible to think of transportation and the environment as a system with repercussions.
It is evident in this topic that I recognize current transportation issues and policies, economic, safety and environmental concerns. That can be proven by the work I have done to make sure that I identified the current transportation issues that can be seen in the upper left corner of this page.
