COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course deals with algebraic expressions and equations; solution sets of algebraic equations, one variable and equations; solutions of triangles; equations of lines and conic sections; formulas for areas of plane figures; volumes and surface areas of solids; solution sets of systems of linear equations involving up to three variables; and arithmetic and geometric series.

After completing this course, the student must be at the minimum able to:

1. Simplify algebraic expressions;

2. Determine the solution sets of all types of algebraic equations;

3. Simplify trigonometric functions and equations.

4. Solve problems involving triangles.

5. Analyze and graph equations lines and conics sections;

6. Compute for the area of plane figures;

7. Compute for the surface areas and volumes of different types of solids;

8. Solve systems of linear equations;

9. Determine the indicated sum of the elements in an arithmetic and geometric sequence.
