The History of Civil Engineering and the Profession started from the ancient times. This was according to the article named Polysurveying (2016). To know more about the history, here is the summary of what is stated in the article:
Ancient roots
Engineering started when individuals began building urban communities and eliminating their traveling ways of life. This prompted the advancement of development, as experimentation recognized great plan from less successful methodologies. As early as 4000 BCE, Humans started to construct longer lasting shelters in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia contained probably the most talented engineers in the ancient world, as did Ancient Egypt.
Other striking structures that stay standing and working today offer a solid demonstration of early engineers. The qanat water the board framework shows up in a few societies and stays practical. Romans fabricated the Appian Way, and the Chinese made their achievement, the Great Wall of China. There is still proof of rambling water system and reservoir conduit frameworks that controlled flooding and gave water all through the Americas and Europe. These structures offer a solid articulation on the nature of designing information some time before we created PCs and utilized progressed programming.
The Pyramids of Egypt were constructed around 2600 BC. First instance of large structures built by humans.

Turning into a strength or specialty
Civil engineering and architecture didn't exist without one another. There was no requirement for specialization, as experts learned the two fields. Plan and primary respectability both required thought or nothing was left standing.
This changed in the eighteenth century. Civil engineering was comprehensively characterized as those advancements that were not select to the military, for example, water the executives, streets and extensions. The term "civil engineering" first emerged during this acknowledgment, and the engineering school opened in 1747. Called the National School of Bridges and Highways, it was situated in France and was the principal indication of the orders isolating from one another.
The first to utilize the title "civil engineer" was John Smeaton, who fabricated the Eddystone Lighthouse. He began the Smeatonian Society of Civil Engineers, which transformed into to a greater extent a social gathering than a genuine expert association. In the U.S., its first designing school opened in 1819 and was named Norwich University. The Institution of Civil Engineers turned into the principal genuine expert society, accepting its regal sanction in London in 1828.
The modern approach
Today, respectful designing tends to complex plan with cutting edge innovation. Computer aided design and CAM help with plan, creation and testing of structure reproductions. It functions admirably whether a civil engineer is tending to address flood plain management, designing a bridge or planning roadways. This software leads to effective products and cost savings.
It is hard to track down a territory where civil engineering has not been included. In the event that you work in another structure, cross an extension or move into another development, there was likely a civil designer engaged with the first plans.
In summary, Civil Engineering is one of the professional engineering disciplines that contains design, construction, structures and maintenance of buildings both man-made and naturally built and was acquired through the ages. BISCAST, as one of the state colleges in Bicol region, is aware of its responsibility to contribute to the intellectual and economic development of the overall community, the Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology, envisions itself as the premier college for creative and innovative applied sciences and technology. And align with that, the school is committed to: Produce exemplary civil engineering graduates who are globally competitive, ecologically sensitive and socially responsive to the needs of the community through quality Applied Science and Technology education.

After knowing the brief history of civil engineering, I understand now the where do the course start and it is not just because of its development through the ages but because of how those specific details helped us today to fully understand how those people themselves lived and apply their knowledge in making structures a long time ago. It is now reflected in my mind that from the early ages, they lack the tools to make their structures strong. That is why I recommend their efforts because they did bring the birth of civil engineering and the course itself.
