Dear families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this week's parent education session on Non-Violent Communication with Carol Ruiz--slides are linked here for those who missed it.
February brings a confluence of celebrations and observances: Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day, Ramadan, and Black History Month, each offering opportunities to learn from and honor our community's rich diversity. At our assembly on February 25th, we'll invite students to share about these holidays, celebrations, and traditions.
Semana Blanca is upon us! We hope families find time to play together over break. Play isn't just for kids, it's how we all connect, regulate, and recharge. Wishing everyone moments of joy and presence!
Warmly,
Ms. Dani
K3 We are Readers Parade! K3 students celebrated becoming "Super Readers" this week, using their reading superpowers—pointer power, sound power, heart word power, and more—to grow as readers.
What else is Coming Up?
Upcoming Dates:
Feb 16-20 - Semana Blanca (no school)
Feb 25 - Early Release Day, 1:45 dismissal, 2:00 buses depart ASM
Feb 25th at Night: Repeat Non-Violent Communication Talk Presentation at 8:15-9:15pm online (anyone can email Carol for the link - carzoo.ruiz@gmail.com, or reach her by WhatsApp +14082030050)
Feb 26th in the Morning: Kickoff for weekly in-person Parent Community and NVC Support Meetings 9-10am on campus. Carol will run them at least through March, and maybe longer if they are well-attended. The meetings are currently slotted for E102, but I’ll send a community message the Monday after break to ask how many people plan to attend the first meeting-- to make sure we can accommodate them.
Supporting Students Observing Ramadan: During Ramadan, students who are fasting are invited to come to the Lower School office during lunchtime as a quiet space to read, talk, and relax. Please let your child's homeroom teacher know if they'll be joining us so we can plan accordingly.
