This time of year is big for reporting through STAR. Utilizing some of the reports and diagnostic tools that are available can redirect your large group instruction as well as give you targeted groups and standards to address in small group.
Check out all you can do with reports in STAR on the STAR Coaching Site!
Or click on the links below to see a specific STAR topic. The Kids Should See This is a fantastic site for kids. If you have 5 minutes (or inside recess) and are looking for something educational to capture your students' attention, check this out!
If you are planning a research unit or having student practice Design Thinking, then this site could also be useful.
If you have a toddler who asks "Why?" all the time or a school age kid at home who thirst for knowledge, this may also be for you.
This week's tech tip is a 3 for 1 special: a resource, a teacher spotlight, and a share out.
1. Flipgrid has come out with the Teacher's Guide 3.0! It is full of how to use tips, app smashing ideas, articles, hashtags to follow and frequently asked questions. You can find it here. "Here are some additional tips and tricks for 4K-2 educators when using Flipgrid."
2. Do you think Flipgrid is just for older kids? Not so!! Taylor Ratzburg and Amanda Treml have been using Flipgrid with their littles and Lisa Kasten has been using it with 2nd-grade iPads! They use a badge system (found within Flipgrid) where their kids scan a QR code to get into Flipgrid on the iPad app (request that it gets installed on your iPads here). Flipgrid allows you to record voice instructions so that students can listen to directions as many times as they need. :) See one of Taylor's examples here.
Kids can watch their classmates' videos and then respond with their own video comments! See Amanda's class Flipgrid here.
3. Each of you is AMAZING and does incredible things in your classroom every day! I would love to have you share those out so that your colleagues can learn from you. (It will also give you a chance to play with Flipgrid). Go to this link and share something techie you do in your classroom and then watch the other videos and comment or ask me for help to try someone's idea in your room.
