The new ISTE standards for students are a great starting point to help mold digital age learners in our classrooms. These standards are more about skills students need to be successful in today's digital age. Good news! Several of these skills are taught in your classroom every day through various activities and lessons you teach!
For the not so obvious skills, a great place to start talking about ISTE standards is to watch this short music video with your class and strike up a conversation about the standards and how students view themselves in regards to these role statements.
On this link, you can view the music video, download the standards poster for your classroom as well as a standards unpacking package that will give you resources to do this in your classroom. The first time you visit the site, it will allow you to subscribe to the ISTE blog as well. That will give you great ideas to infuse these skills in your classroom! As always, please let me know how I can help!
With Parent/Teacher Conferences coming up we start contemplating how best to organize our time and what to cover to best showcase student learning in such a short period of time. Seesaw (which you see me write about often) and Flipgrid (a student video tool where you can create a post and have students respond with video) have put out some great resources and ideas for conferences. As always, let me know how I can help!
