Hi Differentiators!
Did you know about a tool called Newsela?
With this tool, you can assign real articles to students and have the article tailored to fit the student's individual reading level? With one click of "assign", the web-based program grabs student scores and grade levels and sends each student a version of the article appropriate to their reading level. Sign up for a free account, create your classroom and add your students. Newsela will email you articles that you might be interested in and you can then assign them to your students.
For those of you who want to delve more into Global Read Aloud, but don't know where to start, here is the link to my GRA presentation. It has interactive links to connect you with resources to use in your classroom. If you need help preparing anything or setting up mini-lessons or curriculum connections, please let me know! Do you sometimes get lost in your Google drive? Once you have been teaching for (let's be honest...a month or more) you accumulate a lot of folders and files.
Adding emojis to the front of the folder name can make your folder visually easy to find in a hurry.
On your laptop, right click on the folder and select "rename"
Put your cursor in front of the folder title and click the keyboard icon in the bottom, right corner of your task bar.
On the keyboard press the smile face icon
Ta da- Emoji keyboard!
Select your emoji and press "enter" to set it.
