The implementation of Teacher Performance Expectation 7 - Effective Literacy Instruction for All Students requires that all Cooperating Teachers provide Teacher Candidates with access to a setting to be able to focus on foundational literacy skills (e.g., print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics & word recognition, fluency), the additional cross cutting themes in literacy, oral and written language (e.g., meaning making, language development, effective expression, content knowledge), and is able to practice screening and diagnostic techniques that inform teaching and assessment and early intervention techniques and support students with dyslexia.
