The Office of Student Placements is part of the Department of Teacher Education. The clinical work of student teaching and other course related field experiences have long been recognized as the essential component to the preparation of teachers as it serves as the crucial link between formal preparation and full-time independent teaching. This web page is intended to be a resource for individuals engaged in Field Experience, applying for Clinical Practice, those currently engaged in the Clinical Practice semester, and those individuals who support this important work: Cooperating Teachers, University Coaches, and K-12 School Districts.
It is our goal to serve APU's Teacher Candidates by collaborating with the K-12 school communities in the placement of APU student teachers in Clinical Practice.
"Based upon Christian values and principles, the APU School of Education prepares educators to be creative, collaborative, critical thinkers and scholars for diverse educational studies."
This statement serves as the mission of the School of Education. The Office of Student Placements supports this mission through seeking out collaborative and diverse K-12 settings for Field Experience and Clinical Practice opportunities.
The Office of Student Placements stays current with the expectations of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to ensure Field Experience and Clinical Practice settings, processes, and documents meet national and state requirements and to secure appropriate placements for Teacher Candidates to put theory into practice in a classroom setting.
The Office of Student Placements is proud of its commitment to serve both APU Teacher Candidates as well as our partner K-12 public school communities. If, at any time, the Office of Student Placements can assist you, please contact our office.
