Financial Information
Financial Aid
Program Costs & Financial Aid: The program packet/info has the original program costs information. It also describes if any type of financial aid is accessible for your program. Access them at their program page and then scroll to the "Financial Information" section:
Traditional Undergraduate Semester (Approved Partner Programs):
Financial aid (federal and state) is available to be applied but only if the student completes and secures a financial aid semester spot through the APU Study Away Semester Aid Placement Application (APA) form.
The transfer of APU institutional aid is not available. It is manually removed for your study away semester and then automatically reinstated for following semester(s). APU Institutional Aid includes aid such as President's/Dean's/Provost's/Director's/Founder's/M.E.L. scholarships, Fac/Staff Award, Honors/APU Grants, etc. Since students are going to a non-APU program, APU Institutional Aid cannot be used. In recognition of the financial challenges this creates, APU has agreed to charge students the lower program tuition cost instead of APU tuition. We recognize this does not cover all differences, but it is meant to assist with the cost.
Ex: SCIO Oxford Semester
Traditional Undergraduate Semester (Exchange Programs):
Offers FULL federal, state, and institutional financial aid transfer (except institutional aid that requires on-campus participation)
Ex. Norway Nursing Semester
Traditional Undergraduate GO Terms: Fall Term & Spring Term
Usually, no financial aid is available for undergraduate GO Term programs. In the event that a GO Term program occurs within a term break (e.g., mid semester break), study away tuition may be combined with the semester block tuition rate for up to 18 units (additional program and insurance fees would still apply).
Traditional Undergraduate GO Terms: Summer Term
Usually, no financial aid is available for undergraduate GO Term programs. If you have “unused” financial aid on your account you might be able to apply it to a summer program but only if confirmed by your financial aid counselor in Undergraduate Enrollment Services Center. APU does offer discounted summer tuition that is used.
Graduate & Professional Students GO Terms: Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term
GO Terms are charged and processed to your APU account like normal. Therefore, any aid you normally receive can be applied to the program. Amounts and due dates are included in each program packet. There is no additional aid available for study away costs.
