Digital arts is a required class where we learn basic Adobe apps (photo shop, illustrator, audition) and other electronic basic skills through completing projects on them. We made posters, audios, edits, and more on these that were displayed at exhibitions some of the time, like our display at Zia. It is super fun getting to learn these skills that we can use in the future and also getting the opportunity to do so.
For my digital arts speech project in Adobe Audition I used the I Have A Dream Speech as a base and added audios such as rain, cheering, booing and music to create a cohesive audio. I chose all of these because I felt that they went along well together keeping the audience engaged, and the speech was a good canvas to create on top of. Throughout this project I leared a lot of new skills and gained knowledge on how to make a project like this well and properly. The main tools that I learned and used to create this project was the razor tool which I used to cut the speech and other audio elements to the lengths I needed. I also used the sound fade in all of the sound effect elements to make them not abrupt. I also used the move tool to move the different tracks around to the places I needed after cutting them. As a whole I am proud of how my project turned out. I feel that there is some room for improvement as a whole but I also think that I did a good job meeting the requirements and came out with an almost clean audio piece. - (LINK TO PROJECT)-
For this project we practiced design elements (described below) on Canva and then used those skills to create and CRAP elements poster as our final project displaying our skills of using those elements and also knowing the CRAP principles.
The CRAP principles are Contrast, which is where you make two or more elements in the design different or similar. If the items are different make them very different. Repetition, repetition is repeating elements of the design throughout the design, like text, style, shape etc. Alignment, alignment is when you line things up in your design like text, shapes etc. Proximity, proximity is the space and relationship between the objects based on the space between them, putting similar items together is a big part of it. These principles are important because when you use them it adds a better element to the design and allows the viewer of the work to understand the message, be drawn in, and make it more appealing to look at.
I used these throughout my design by using the same colors, decoration, text, and style on all of my posters. I lined up the text and the boxes all up and made sure that there was good proximity as well. I picked the color scheme that I did because it is simple, not too hard to see the text and is easy to look at. I used all similar colors so that it all goes together and added flowers as another element to make it more visually appealing.
For this project we created new shirts for the school. Each student created a shirt design with no restrictions or requirements in adobe illustrator which will be voted on by the school where the winner becomes the new shirt for the school. I decided to use the Durango vibe with the mountains surrounding the school environment as a center for the shirt and then the back having the actual logo on it. Although my shirt is not my favorite I still like how I was able to create a design with the animas vibe as the main message for the shirt. I used animas colors (yellow, green and purple) as well as the animas logo on my shirt as well.
Our Teacher Creature project was Photoshop art piece where we chose a picture (which could be any kind of pop culture moment or photo) and then we chose a teacher (or multiple if our moment had multiple faces in it) and then we used new skills to photoshop the face of the teacher onto the face(s) of the people in the picture.
For my teacher creature project I chose the ELF movie poster. To pair with Will Ferrell's face I chose Elliot Baglini. Some of the photoshop skills I used during this project were the erase tool, the smudge tool, the color adjustment color balance tool, the color adjustment hue and saturation tool, the text tool, the spot heal tool, I also used the folder tools and learned how to sort and keep track of layers. Throughout this project I was able to learn a lot of new things and gain new skills in photoshop. In the past classes I've used photoshop in I was not too confident in using it and other adobe art apps but throughout this project I have gained my confidence in using new tools. Although I feel my project is not the best and his face does not match up, if I was to re-do this project I would fix that. I think that I tried my best to do so but I did not want to fully restart my project by the time I got to the point of experiencing that issue. I enjoyed this project and learning new things and trying something new with digital art.
For this project we chose an artist/a kind of music/anything having to do with music and we created a poster. We were required to make a custom font, have text, use only 4 colors and a few other things but besides that we could do pretty much anything that we wanted with our project. We used Photoshop and illustrator tools and skills we learned in class to make this poster.
My poster's inspiration was Billie Elilish and her music and I made her the center point of my work. The Illustrator tools I used were the eyedropper tool, text tool, shape tool and more. I demonstrated skills such as placement of text, using a color scheme, creating my own text, showing hierarchy, alignment, proximity, and other CRAP principles. I created my custom display font by using the pencil tool on the capital letters to make them have squiggly outsides. To make my photoshop edits I used the eraser tool and the lasso tool on my big picture to cut just her body and get rid of the background. My overall thoughts on my final piece is that I enjoyed making it and I think that my final product displays a lot of effort and skill and new things that I learned. I think that in the end I am happy with my final product. I do think there is still room for improvement, but I think it appears finished and clean. I am proud of the poster I came out with.
These are some of the design challenges that we had to practice the CRAP design principles like writing our names, incorporating thing into the posters. For the name part I made different color and font combinations and then for the other page I used similar fonts and colors to make it.
For my album cover project I used Billie Ellish's album Hit me Hard and Soft and because I needed another album underwater I used Nirvana's album Never Mind and combined the bill and her underwater.
For this project we created a new font on adobe illustrator while learning new tools that we can use in the future. I used the pencil tool to extend the letters and then made the stroke and background a new color. Although this was practice I was pretty proud of the outcome and like the finished product.
