In this class we get the opportunity to expand our art skills while learning about styles and bases of art while completing projects. At the start of the year we learned about the elements of art, the color wheel, and diffrent mediums. During the semester we will make many meduims of 2D art projects.
We created these to help us remember the elements of art (Line, Shape, Value, Color, Texture, Space, and Form). During this process we practiced all of these elements when putting examples into the pamphlet. Creativity showed up as I worked on this while I was coming up with how I would put everything togther and what I would use as examples. If I could I would take more time on the ice cream cone and possibly make it 3D or better colored. I am most proud of how I attatched the pamphet becaue that was very confusing and I was able to attatch mine so it can open still on the cone.
We created these as a practice using multiple mediums, we chose a symbol that represents us and use a different medium for each. I used Line, Shape, and Color. I used creativity when I was coming up of what to turn each letter of my name into, which took a bit I ended up with my dogs ears for the "M" a road to represent traveling for the "I" and silverware for the "A" because I like cooking and eating. If I could I would change the whole thing, I am not happy with how this turned out, I wish I spent more time and put more engergy into it because to me it looks pretty bad. I am most proud of the ideas I came up with for each letter, I think they represent me very well.
Almost every week we have a different theme (this one was electric) We have to use collage, words, and an observational drawing. I did a tree being struck by lightning, collaged clouds, and "electric" written in different fonts. I used the elements of line, texture, color, and shape. I showed creativity while coming up with the ideas and trying different ways to collage. If I could I would change the way I used words. I am proud of the way the tree and lightning turned out I wasn't sure if it would look good or not but I think it looks okay.
This is a class assignment that we completed to practice using shading and contour drawing. We selected any items we wanted to draw and then used the shading skills and contour drawing skills that we practiced the previous few weeks. The only restrictions were we couldn't use color, we had to have 3-5 objects and the drawing had to show the depth and shades of the objects to make them appear 3-D. To make this I started with the clear outlines and the bottle and then started to fill in the drawings with the shading. I am proud of how I captured each of the items and specificly the clip. If I could change anything I would re-do the bottle. I feel like it isn't as good as I wanted it to be. Overall I think I did okay on this but also think it could be better and could be worse. :)
Almost every week we have a different theme (this one was Kitchen) We have to use collage, words, and an observational drawing. I did a fridge (my fridge was inspiration for the type of fridge and a few of the items inside), no collage (I was planning to do string around the outline or a few collaged items when I was in class but my teacher said that it would be okay if I didn't and could add them later if I wanted a 10/10 on the assignment instead of an 8/10), and the words of each of the item packaging. I used the elements of line, shape, value, and form . I showed creativity while coming up with the ideas. To make this I started making the fridge and then added the items in as they came to mind. If I could I would add collage. I am proud of the way I captured each item and how the words are blended in naturally.
This piece was the final project of the semester. We were allowed to choose our own subject medium etc. For my project I made a colored pencil drawing of a canyon in Lake Powell because I thought that it was a place I have a connection to and would be both simple and fun to make in the time frame (two weeks) we had. Something that I am proud of is the detail that I added to the canyon (multiple colors and detail). Something that I learned was shading with colored pencils and the importance of attention to detail. Overall I am happy with the way that it turned out, but wished the water and coulds turned out a little more realistic and finished looking.
