Academy Council Information

Whilst the Board of Trustees holds overall governance accountability, the day-to-day responsibilities are delegated by the Trustees through a Scheme of Delegation to the Leadership Team, regional leaders and Academy Councils.

At a local level, each school in the Trust has an Academy Council. The Academy Council’s primary role is to provide independent assurance to the Trust based on the ‘lived experience’ of pupils, staff, parents, and members of the community, as well as promote stronger relationships between the Trust, the school and its community.

The purpose of the Academy Councils is set out in the Terms of Reference:

For further  information about the Governance structure at Academies Enterprise Trust, please visit the AET Governance Page. For the Articles of Association, Master Funding Agreement and the academy's Supplemental Funding Agreements, please visit the AET Finance Page.

Do you want to make a difference?

If you are passionate about contributing to your community and are interested in finding more out about being part of your school’s Academy Council, we would love to hear from you!

Spring Term Academy Council Meeting

Letter to Parents

We are delighted to share with you the outcomes of our Academy Council Meeting which was held on Thursday 14th March 2024 at 12pm.

The Academy Council were privileged to listen to nine students who presented their work on International Women’s Day and cultural inclusion ‘Making a Change’. They spoke with passion and confidence. Their knowledge was impressive, and our own knowledge improved. We were also impressed with their ability to answer our questions which they did easily and with honesty. They were credit to themselves, their school and their families.

We know that the news of Mr Lees departure will bring concern due to the impressive commitment and improvements he has made to CCA. He has with his team ensured that the education at CCA has improved and the culture and ethos mean that students now feel safer at school. The Academy Council would like to thank Mr Lees for always putting the student’s education first. We will miss his frank and honest evaluation of what CCA has done well and what it needs to do next.

We had visitors from AET who enjoyed being able to see how the Academy Council was working. They were pleased with the work the school was doing to improve. They thoroughly enjoyed listening to the students who came to share their work on ‘Making a Change’ and ‘International Women’s Day’.

They were also able to confirm the work they had done to ensure that the students and staff had a new Executive Principle to start at the beginning of next term. We were pleased to hear that Mr Cologne would be Head of School thus making sure that the continuity of leadership is in place so that CCA can continue to make progress.

We look forward to sharing further updates with you in the future.

Letter to Students

The Academy Council would like to thank you for attending our meeting on Thursday 14th March 2024.

We were all impressed with your ability to share the work you have been doing to challenge and educate the students of CCA. You presented the information in a confident and passionate way. You were clear about what you wanted to achieve through your work and how you intend to develop it in the future.

You came alive when you shared your personal ideas and beliefs when answering our questions and you built on each other’s ideas too.

We look forward to hearing from you again in the future. Please keep being a credit to yourselves, the school and your families.
