Nursery & Reception
At Beacon Academy, we believe all children should have the best possible start to their education. We ensure this in both our Nursery and Reception by having access to a progressive curriculum and language rich learning environments.

Adventure, learning, and fun await!
We believe in creating a special place where children can be creative and confident, where curiosity sparks and imagination soars.
Our Nursery and Reception classes offer a blend of indoor and outdoor learning, providing children with opportunities to explore, play, and learn in a language-rich environment.
We provide a supportive learning environment where children can thrive. Our balanced approach combines whole-class teaching, small group activities, and one-to-one support, as well as opportunities for child-initiated play. We work closely with parents to ensure every child's journey is a happy and successful one.
Our experienced staff are passionate about early years education and committed to providing the highest quality care. They are always on hand to offer support, guidance, and encouragement, ensuring that every child feels valued and confident.
Children will be learning new skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.
• Communication and language;
• Physical development;
• Personal, social and emotional development;
• Literacy;
• Mathematics;
• Understanding the world; and
• Expressive arts and design.
These 7 areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities which are suited to your individual unique needs. We also follow the principles set out in the document ‘Birth to Five Matters’ which states that significant learning is dependent on each child having opportunities to thrive and develop positive relationships within an enabling environment.
At Beacon Academy, we offer a wealth of opportunities to explore and learn through play within a safe and stimulating environment. We recognise the importance of positive parent partnerships which will support the children on their learning journey throughout the school. We deliver adult-led learning sessions and encourage child-initiated experiences, supporting children to be leaders of their own learning. Learning together outdoors allows our children to explore the natural world and test out their physical skills. Time spent outdoors helps to promote physical and mental well-being.
It is important for us to get to know and understand every child in order to meet the needs of the individual. Our approach encourages social, emotional and physical development and grows communication and language skills. Literacy, maths, understanding of the world and expressive arts form part of our rich, inspiring curriculum.
We value all cultures, religions and languages in our curriculum and aim to provide a caring, secure and welcoming environment for all children and parents.
