Successful completion of Greek 6, teacher consultation and/or placement test for those new to the program. Placement in the Honors section of this course requires: Teacher recommendation based on Q1 performance and grade (minimum B+ and above). Honors placement is finalized after Q1.
This course is offered to students with a well-developed Greek background or advanced language skills in Greek who wish to continue Greek in twelfth grade but do not wish to take an IB Greek course. This course is the first year of a rotating program in which students explore a range of concepts and global issues through both literary and non-literary texts. Students develop understanding by making connections across works and examining how different historical contexts have shaped the ways challenges are addressed. The course strengthens students’ understanding of Greek language and culture through focused practice in writing, speaking, and reading. Students learn to brainstorm, draft, and revise effectively while developing clear, organized ideas using varied vocabulary and grammar. Reading activities build comprehension and encourage students to connect texts to contemporary issues through comparison and analysis.
Students taking this course for Honors credit might be required to complete supplemental assignments and will be assessed with an Honors-level rubric.
