IB Diploma Course Students: Grade of C or above in Grade 10 English and Social Studies.
The DP Psychology course aims to promote psychological literacy. It is a two-year course. In year 1, IB students will develop knowledge and understanding of two out the four psychological contexts (Learning and Cognition and Human Relationships), the three content approaches (biological, cognitive, and sociocultural), and the six key concepts (bias, causality, change, measurement, perspective, responsibility). These will serve as foundational lenses through which students will analyze psychological theories, research, and real world applications. HL Extensions and Research Methodologies will be studied in the context of preparing students to hone their critical thinking skills when evaluating research and interpreting data. The first draft of the internal assessment, a research proposal that asks students to consider the power of psychology to lead to real improvement in people’s quality of life, will be completed at the end of year under the instructor’s guidance.
*Assessment is aligned with the IBO course assessment requirements.
