Description
This is a semester course. This course is significantly more rigorous (mathematically and conceptually) than physics 1 and it is recommended to finish physics 1 with at least a B- in order to enroll in this course. The course aims to further develop the conceptual and analytical skills of students in the general area of Mechanics. This course is essential for students interested in pursuing the IB Physics course at Standard or Higher Levels.
Course topics include: Kinematics (Speed, Velocity, Acceleration, Motion Graphs, Free Fall), Newton’s Laws of Motion, Friction, Drag, Weight and Gravity, Circular Motion, Momentum, Impulse and Conservation of Momentum, Work and Energy, Conservation of Energy, Energy Transformations, Kinetic and Potential Energy, Efficiency and Power, Energy Resources and Gravitation.
Assessment
