Successful completion of the EFL Program or EFL 2 in the Middle School.

Course Description:

This course focuses on developing language skills for basic intermediate level students of English. Language development is combined with building media literacy and sharpening skills transferable to core subjects. Vocabulary building and fundamental grammar concepts involving the application of all tenses in speaking and writing are consolidated in combination with fiction and non-fiction reading comprehension, as well as personal and narrative writing. Emphasis is placed on the writing process, while listening and viewing activities are incorporated throughout and applied to further develop note-taking skills. Literary analysis skills and research skills are reinforced, while oral skills are developed through presentations and a speaking component including monologue, role play and debate. The course corresponds to the B1 level of CEFR.
