PC Passport is a National Progression Award (NPA) with provides learners with up-to-date knowledge and skills in a range of popular IT software, such as Google and Office 365. Learners will improve skills in key areas such as word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, preparing them for employment and further study.
The SQA qualification is offered at the following levels:
SCQF level 4 - PC Passport
SCQF level 5 - PC Passport
SCQF level 6 - PC Passport
Each SCQF level is made of up of three units, as shown below:
The presentation unit will teach pupils how to create effective and professional PowerPoint Presentations. Pupils will consolidate basic knowledge as well as progressing to move advanced skills, such as creating their own slide designs.
The word processing unit will allow pupils to use routine word features to format and present documents. They will also learn how to store and collaborate on documents online. They can further develop their skills by using advanced features of the software.
Pupils will learn how to format and layout their spreadsheets as well as gain knowledge of the use of formulae and chart making. They will also gain knowledge and skills in creating routine spreadsheets and implementing practical solutions using a range of routine features and functions.
No previous experience with Office 365 is required
The 3 units are assessed by:
Internally set and marked assessments given periodically during the course
Knowledge and understanding is assessed through SOLAR (presentation and spreadsheet only)
There is no external exam
