Computing Science shapes the world in which we live and its future. You will learn how to create and manipulate computer systems, and how to apply the skills and approaches you gain in computing to tackle real-life problems effectively and creatively.

The SQA COMPUTING SCIENCE qualification is offered at 4 levels ranging, from National 4 up to Advanced Higher. The structure of the National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher course consists of 4 units, as shown below:
These courses are assessed by:
an external written exam
a practical assignment undertaken in class (N5 - Higher) or a student project (AH).
Analyse problems, design solutions and write programs using the Python programming language.
Design and create websites using the languages of the WWW: HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Design and create databases, and use the language SQL to extract information stored in the database.
Understand how computers work, and how the use of computers impacts the world we live in.
Computer Games Development at Bridge of Don Academy (BODA) introduces learners to the creative and technical processes involved in designing and building computer games. The course combines game design, media creation and programming, providing an engaging route into computing and digital creativity.
It is designed to reflect current industry practices, develop practical skills, and motivate learners interested in game development, computing, and STEM-related careers.
SCQF Level: 5
Total Units: 3 (QS National Units)
The final mark will be allocated by the course coordinator on the basis of the evidence produced by the pupils and by assessing all 3 units.
