If you choose to study National Graphic Communication you can expect to learn a variety of skills including;
2D and 3D Sketching
3D CAD Modelling
2D and 3D Drafting
Desktop Publishing
Your final grade will come from the Practical Assignment and your final SQA Exam but you will be assessed throughout the year.
You should expect to have two Practical Assignments and two Theory Assessments throughout the year, these usually are scheduled towards the end of each term in October and December.
You will also sit a Preliminary Exam in January which will be much more like your final exam in May. A final decision on which Level you will be presented at (National 4 or 5) will be made at this time, and will be based on a holistic view of your performance throughout the year including the Prelim.
Practical Assignment is worth 30% of your overall grade and takes place over 8 hours during your normal class time in February and March.
Exam accounts for the further 70% of your grade and takes place in May during the SQA exam diet and will last for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Practical Assignment is your only Assessment and you will get a (PASS/FAIL). It takes place during your normal class time in February and March. You must also complete all National 4 coursework which you will have been working on throughout the year.
There is no Exam for National 4.
