Course Description:
National 4/5 Engineering Science develops knowledge and understanding of a wide range of engineering disciplines and aspects of technology. You will develop your problem-solving skills to solve a variety of everyday engineering problems.
This is an ideal course to study if you are interested in following a career into engineering. Some of the key topic areas include:
Analogue & Digital Electronics, Structures & Materials, Energy, Pneumatics & Programmable Control.
Your mathematical skills will certainly be tested so strength in this area is essential.
Assessment:
N4
Pupils need to meet the requirements of 3 separate units of work as well as completing an Added-Value Unit towards the end of the course.
N5
Class tests are completed at the end of each topic and a prelim exam is conducted just after the Christmas break.
You will complete an SQA assignment in February and a final written exam during the SQA exam diet. The total marks from these 2 assessments determine the final grade.
