Guitar 7

In this chapter, we will focus on playing in the key of A Major, learning scales, scale studies, and simple songs. A Major has three sharps: F, C, and G. That means that every time you see an F, C, or G, you should play it one fret higher than usual. You should use the scales below to help you decipher the finger code for all the songs in this chapter.

Before you try the scale, watch this video to learn about high A (1:5):

1. A Major Scale

2. A Major Scale Study #1

Yes, these are the same familiar scale studies, this time transposed to A Major. Watch out for the low G# (6:4) in #2.

3. A Major Scale Study #2

4. Largo from Symphony #9, by Antonin Dvorak

5. The Minstrel Boy

6. Russian Sailor's Dance

Congratulations! You've completed Chapter 7 of the Guitar Class! If you've played and mastered every song in this chapter, you can go on to Chapter 8!
