Guitar 6
In this chapter, we will focus on playing in the key of D Major, learning scales, scale studies, and simple songs. D Major has two sharps: F# and C#. That means that every time you have an F or C, you should play it one fret higher to get an F# or C#. 2:1 becomes 2:2 and 5:3 becomes 5:4. Just like the last chapter, the same scale is written twice: once with letters and once with finger code.
1. D Major Scale
Below is a video of the D Major Scale played in 2nd position.
2. Full Range D Major Scale
We’ve continued the notes of the D Major scale through all strings on the guitar. Check the finger code to remember how to play all the F#s and C#s.
5. Sailor's Hornpipe
Learn this melody slowly. Once you know it, try to play it faster and faster.
Congratulations! You've completed Chapter 6 of the Guitar Class! If you've played and mastered every song in this chapter, you can go on to Chapter 7!
