Community: The Northern Berkshire Youth R.O.P.E.S. (Respecting Other People Encouraging Self-esteem) Summer Program provides a free week-long summer camp, one in July and once in August, for more than 250 children in Northern Berkshire County. This program is staffed by police officers, firefighters, and teachers from participating cities and towns; Adams, Clarksburg, Cheshire, North Adams, Florida and Williamstown. The first of two of the annual R.O.P.E.S. Camp was held at Windsor Lake from 07/18 – 07/22. This week saw eighty-six kids, with twenty-four (24) from Williamstown. Williamstown Dispatchers Laurie Tuper & Brad Sacco, and Officer Tania Hernandez are three of the senior staff that make these weeks possible. The 2nd week is scheduled from 8/8 – 8/12 and is projected to have ninety-six (96) kids, with twenty-five (25) from Williamstown.

Community: A raccoon euthanized in the 700 block of North Hoosac Rd tested positive for rabies. There was no confirmed exposure to any people or pets. All pet owners are reminded that all cats & dogs six (6) months of age or older must be currently vaccinated against rabies, per MGL 140/145B.

Williamstown Dispatchers Laurie Tuper & Brad Sacco, and Officer Tania Hernandez are three of the senior staff that make these weeks possible.

Training: All officers received training in the administration of Nasal Naloxone (Narcan) on Thursday, 8/18. Effective Monday, 8/22/16 at 0700, all patrols will have Narcan with them while on patrol. This training was provided for free by members of Village and North Adams Ambulance Service, and was held at the Pine Cobble School.

Upon completion of the Narcan training, all officers took a detailed tour of the Pine Cobble Campus in an effort to gain building familiarity in the event of a large scale incident on the campus. This is just one of many safety initiatives the Police Department conducts with partner schools and business with Williamstown
