Just wanted to let everyone know that the Town of Williamstown is started this morning using the Cold in Place with emulsion method by Peckham Industries to assist in the resurfacing of 3 miles of RTE 43. There are various ways and vendors available to achieve this. The scope includes milling the paved shoulder area(poor material) and offloading that material, adding ¾ trap rock to the existing mat for additional traffic load. The second miller is grinding 4” of roadway and windrowing that material. This is then picked up by the next machine, emulsion is added and that material is then laid back down for rolling and compaction testing. The overlay will also use an attachment for a modified curb, Cape Cod style WITHOUT the joint.

I’ve attached photos. This is the right operation at the right time on the right road. This is not new. The Ch 90 Towns in the District have used it numerous times with excellent results. Becket Wade Inn Road also just used this procedure. Lenox used it from the high school to Eastover and various locations in that town.

Swing by and take a look. It may be the savior for your road, too! This should take all week.

Feel free to share this with your community and coworkers!
