Touch, Touch, and Many More Touches!

April 29, 2010

Abstract:

Although touchscreens have been around for decades, a paradigm shift to multi-touch interaction has emerged. The new touch ecosystem includes single and multiple finger gesturing, natural user interfaces, and multi-user solutions. This presentation will provide insight into the multi-touch ecosystem, including gestures, terminology, operating systems, and much more. We will also shed light on how different technologies are positioned to support the enhanced user interface requirements.

In addition, we will have a 22” 3M M2256PX multi-touch display available to demonstrate the capabilities of full multi-touch. This product, announced at CES 2010 and recognized as CNN Money’s Top Ten coolest gadgets of 2010, offers 20 finger touch support and less than 6 ms touch response time on an commercial grade 1680x1050 display specifically designed to support multi-touch functionality. This performance has been Windows 7 Advance Qualification (AQ) certified for more than 20 touch points.
