Stereoscopic 3D for Professional Applications

Abstract:
The current publicity surrounding stereoscopic 3D has centered on consumer entertainment applications, including television and computer gaming. While these entertainment applications are, in fact, driving the 3D market, there are significant professional applications for stereoscopic 3D technology. This talk focuses on these professional 3D applications and the display requirements of the applications.
The Speaker:
Matthew Brennesholtz has worked in the display field since receiving his Masters of Engineering degree from Cornell University in 1978. He has worked on direct view CRT systems and projection systems based on CRTs, oil-film light valves, DMDs, LCDs and LCoS. In addition to system level work, he was involved in the design and testing of optical components for these systems. Currently he is at Insight Media providing consulting and other services to the display industry.
Mr. Brennesholtz has recently updated the book “Projection Displays,” published by John Wiley and Sons, to the second edition. He is also author or co-author of 22 SID and SPIE papers and holds 23 US patents. He has presented numerous tutorials on display related topics to the SID, SPIE and at other venues. At Insight Media, he has co-authored 15 marketing and technology reports, including ones on LEDs, lasers and lamps for projection systems, direct view LCD backlight systems, low-cost projectors, picoprojectors and 3D systems.

Driving is possible--we will try to arrange parking passes for RSVPs received before Nov 3 in the SW Mudd Parking Garage on 120th Street.

After 4:30PM metered parking is also available on
120th Street (be sure to bring a few quarters, the meters run until
10PM and allow 0.5h per quarter). Columbia is on the #1 subway line
which connects directly to NJTransit and the LIRR at Penn Station, and
the MetroNorth through the subway at Times Square.
