Abstract:

IT’S NOT EASY BEING GREEN

It seems that all current display panels and display-centric products are being painted green. To what extend is this “greeniness” real, and to what extent does it represent pandering to consumer trends or PR to ward off greater regulatory controls.

To the extent that it is real, what do panel and product makers mean by it, and what do consumers think it means?

What benefits do panel and product makers see in genuine ecological responsiveness, and are consumers willing to actually pay a premium for green display-centric products.

Based on data and insights from Insight Media’s Green Display Report: The Business Threats and Opportunities of Green Displays, Ken will attempt to answer these questions, and will present updates on power consumption of soon-to-be-shipping flat-panel TVs obtained at CES 2010.
