Displays of Summer 2013

Tuesday October 1st, 2013

Welcome back from summer! SID-MAC is starting off this season of events with a re-cap of all the display advancements in the summer of 2013.

Come join our speaker series with three talks by:

2013 Developments in Consumer Displays

Mr. Ciacci will give a brief overview of testing TVs at Consumer Reports, and then introduce some interesting specific models. The contrast performance plasma TV has been markedly improved. We now have several 4K consumer TVs on the market. And finally, an OLED large-screen consumer TV has been released to the market. Hear about CR's test results on these fascinating new displays.

Review of EuroDisplay 2013

EuroDisplay offers the opportunity for the display community to gather in Europe to discuss issues important to the advancement of display technologies. This year at EuroDisplay 2013, jointly organized by the UK and Ireland Chapter of the Society for Information Display and the Optical group of the Institute of Physics, approximately 200 industrial and academic researchers gathered to discuss topics a broad array of topics including flexible displays, OLEDs, LCDs, augmented reality and graphene / alternative transparent conductors (among other topics). In this talk, I will briefly review the conference and discuss highlights and focuses of the symposium.
