How to Place a Reserve on a Book at the Public Library
The public libraries in our area are wonderful resources! You can now do many things on their websites with the click of a button.
Often, if we do not have a book in our library collection, the public library will have a copy. If you have a library card, you can request the book online and pick it up within a few days at your closest library!
Below are instructions on how to place a hold on a book at the public library.
Instructions:
Start by searching the SCPL library catalog for the book you want.
If you don’t have a specific book in mind, you can browse by subject, author, etc. (Similar to how you search through our catalog. You can find the tutorial HERE.)
Once you find the book you want to place on hold, select the book from the search menu. You will be brought to the book’s record.
On the right side of the screen, you will see an option to Place Request. Select this option.
You will be brought to a screen that asks you to sign in with your library account. Make sure to sign in.
If you do not have a library card, you can find out how to get one HERE.
You will be brought to the Place Request screen. You can select a pickup library on this page.
After you have made your pickup library selection, select the blue Submit Request button. You will receive an email (or text depending on your notification settings) when the book is ready to be picked up.
NOTE: The book you select may have a waiting list, but you will be notified as soon as it is ready.
