How to Access Overdrive

The public library offers more than physical material checkout, you can also access a number of digital materials from their website! This includes: movies, TV shows, magazines, and audiobooks and eBooks!

The instructions and video tutorial below will show you how to access Overdrive to access the public library’s many eBooks and audiobooks!

Instructions:

• 1. Navigate to the SCPL’s homepage. You can find it HERE.

  2. Look to the top of the page where you will see a blue line of drop-down menus. Select the first option, Download/Stream.

  3. You will be taken to THIS page. From here, you can access any of the library’s eMaterials as long as you have a library card. You can find out how to sign up for a library card online HERE.

  4. From this page, look to the left sign of the screen where there are several options in the sidebar. Below Introduction, select eBooks.

  5. A drop-down menu will appear. Select Overdrive, the first option.

     • You can also find Overdrive under the main Download/Stream page under eBooks, there is a link for Overdrive titled OverDrive/Northern California Digital Library.

  6. You can search through Overdrive without signing it, but to sign in, look on the right side of the screen where you will see a gold Sign-In button.

  7. Select your library, for many of us, it will be Santa Cruz Public Libraries.

  8. Input your card number and sign-in. You can now check books out from Overdrive.
