Public Library Databases

How to Access the Public Library Research Databases

The public library, along with all the other amazing services it provides, also allows you to access research databases if you have a library card. This is a great resource if you have a research project for class and our own databases don’t have what you’re looking for!

Below are instructions on how to access these databases.

Instructions:

    1. Start on the Santa Cruz Public Library homepage. Linked HERE.

    2. At the top of the page, you will see a blue line of several options, select Research.

    3. You will see a page of 12 squares containing research databases by subject. For your purposes, the most appropriate might be Homework Help. It is in the middle of the third row. You can also find it HERE.

    4. Here you will find many databases with credible information that you can use for your classes. The High School databases are located at the top.

    5. Depending on your research topic, you will need to read the descriptions of the databases to find which one is best for you.

      • There are databases on history, science, global issues, the environment, among others.

    6. Once you select a database, log in with your Library Card Number and Password.

      • If you do not have a library card, find out how to get one HERE.
