Nepal Aftershock Update

Post date: May 13, 2015 7:54:18 PM

Since our last update, Nepal has continued to experience ongoing aftershocks. The most significant one measured 7.3 on the Richter scale yesterday morning. All seven RTWB Healthcare Education Partner (HEP) sites have been contacted. This is the latest news.

Bayalpata hospital - operational

CIWEC hospital - operational

Himalayan Rescue Association Pheriche Clinic - closed for the season after 1st quake

International Friendship Children's Hospital - operational

Lamjung District Community Hospital - operational (secondary source)

Patan Hospital - operational

United Mission Hospital - operational

In conversation with people on the ground. Everyone is noticeably shaken. However, the people of Nepal are resilient as witnessed through people back to working in the fields within days of the initial quake. The sense of community is deep rooted into their culture with communities that were spared casualties sending teams with rice & lentils by foot to neighbouring communities that did not have rations. Interesting article.

RTWB continues to stand by our commitments to improve respiratory health through the educational advancement of local healthcare providers worldwide. RTWB only deploys to needs stated by HEPs. To see current needs, please refer to our Deployments Page

Our heart continues to go out to the people of Nepal.
