In 6th grade, learners begin to explore Xello, an online software tool that will support and facilitate multiple academic and career planning activities, as well as Character Strong, an online resource focused on engagement, belonging, and well-being. In addition, learners begin to prepare for life in middle school, and hone the skills that they will need to be successful with greater responsibility and choices that middle school brings. These experiences are presented through class, school counseling lessons, and transition programming.

Self-Awareness: Executive Functioning Skills - Brain Tools: Learners will be introduced to the executive functioning skills, and will specifically focus strategies that align with our Future Ready Skills (Prepared & Productive and Positive & Persistent)
Self-Awareness: Executive Functioning Skills - Prompt & Prepared: Learners will be introduced to strategies that will help them stay organized, prioritize responsibilities, and initiate tasks
Self-Awareness: Executive Functioning Skills - Positive & Persistent: Learners will be introduced to strategies that will help them understand the importance of (and practice) emotional regulation, impulse control, and flexible thinking
Self-Awareness: Values: Learners will explore the concept of values, and identify some of their own personal values. Additionally, students will consider the values of larger communities, such as school
Self-Awareness: My Personality: Learners will take a personality assessment, identify their primary personality traits, and assess how these traits influence and impact their communication and interactions with peers and the world around them
Career Exploration: Introduction to Xello: An introduction to an online software tool that helps students explore various post-secondary pathways

Career Exploration: Career Clusters: Learners explore the career clusters and identify their top 2-3 clusters of interest
Self-Management: Stress Management - Triggers: Learners will assess and identify stressors in their life
Self-Management: Stress Management - Coping Skills: Learners will identify productive strategies that they find helpful in preventing and responding to stress
Self-Management: Emotional Regulation: Learners will focus on identifying the signs of different emotions within themselves, and practice how to regulate strong emotions
Relationship Skills: Positive Peer Connectedness: Learners will explore ways to respond and interact with others in kind, empathetic ways
Relationship Skills: Bullying Behavior in Pewaukee: Learners will review, in depth, the impacts of bullying behavior on all involved, how to report bullying behavior, potential consequences to bullying behavior, and how we can contribute to a culture of kindness and support for one another
Relationship Skills: Being an Upstander: Learners will learn strategies to actively support others who they observe to be targets of bullying behavior
Relationship Skills - Problem Solving & Conflict Resolution: Learners will review how to identify the size of a problem, and practice problem-solving strategies
Social Awareness: Applying Values Online: Learners will consider how their online actions reflect their personal values, and explore how to counter cyberbullying
Social Awareness: Perspective-Taking: Learners will explore how people can have different opinions and perspectives, and practice ways to respect these differences
Relationships Skills: Friendships: Learners will examine how their personal values impact friendships and focus on how to share friends with other peers
Course Selection: Select elective opportunities from a wide array of elective courses for their 7th-grade year, expanding on areas of interest and trying new experiences
Future Ready/ACP Conferences: Each year in middle school will culminate with a personalized conference between learner, parent, and ACP advisor. Learners will share their experiences as they relate to the Graduate Profile, including what they have learned about themselves, and their future-ready planning through a presentation that they have developed over the course of their 6th grade year
