Transitions: Great Start Conferences: Learners and families meet with their teacher prior to the start of the school year to ensure a smooth transition into 3rd grade and to establish strong connections between school and home
CARE: Learners will explore various ways that they can care for themselves and regularly complete a survey that helps them reflect on their self-care and wellness
Social Skills - Respect: Learners will focus on the power of words - in person and online. Additionally, students will learn the impact of upstander behavior and practice ways to stop, support, and report bullying or mean behavior
Social Skills - Empathy: Fifth graders will practice using empathy as a leader, in service learning, and in responding to the problems of others with compassion
Social Skills - Cooperation: Learners will identify aspects of a social leader and how these skills are used in groups and as role models for younger individuals
Executive Functioning - Courage: Fifth graders will explore their level of courage versus comfort in a variety of situations that require character

Executive Functioning - Perseverance: Fifth graders will continue their focus on goal setting by anticipating obstacles and ways to overcome them, breaking large tasks into smaller, more manageable parts, creating timelines, and further developing time management skills
Emotional Regulation - Gratitude: Learners will focus on gratitude for the support systems they have that help them manage and navigate stress, and also learn how focusing on gratitude is a stress-management tool
Emotional Regulation - Honesty: Through a series of lessons, students will focus on learning about and practicing a variety of ways to proactively prevent stress and how to productively respond to situations or circumstances that trigger stress
Emotional Regulation - Creativity: Through creativity and critical thinking, fifth graders will focus on developing problem-solving strategies

Transitions - Preparing for Middle School: Student Services staff from the middle school will introduce students to life in 6th grade. Topics covered include scheduling, lockers, administration and support staff, class choices, sports & clubs, and frequently asked questions
