What is ACP?

"Academic and Career Planning (ACP) is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post-secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills." - Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction

From a very young age, we ask our children "What do you want to be when you grow up"?  Our kids learn quickly that there is an expectation that they are thinking about future plans. However, this can be overwhelming - for learners, educators, AND for parents.

"I am in middle school - do I really need to know what I want to do for a career? "

"If my high schooler changes their mind about their career path, will they be on the wrong path or at a disadvantage?"

"How do I ensure that my students get what they need from me in class so they are set up for success beyond high school?"

"Should I really expect my son to know what he wants to do for the rest of his life?  I didn't know until I was 35!"

Today, parents and educators are teaming up to prepare youth for a world that is very different from the one that we experienced as children. We are giving children and adolescents a foundation that will prepare them for a global economy, and ensure that they are ready to be successful in careers that don't even exist yet! Together we are partnering with families and our greater community to ensure that students from the Pewaukee School District are equipped with the education, skills, and experiences they need to be competitive in 21st Century careers.

Academic and Career Planning - or ACP - is the vehicle by which we will be nurturing and building college and career readiness in our learners. Not only is it supported by the Department of Public Instruction and the State of Wisconsin, but it aligns with our mission as a district.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO OPENING THE DOOR TO EACH CHILD'S FUTURE

SO THAT ALL STUDENTS CAN OPEN DOORS FOR THEMSELVES!
